ASKIN ENSEMBLE

Askin Ensemble was founded with an aim to fulfill the needs of variety of quality music, and beside from the known repertoire, it is always open to new works, chamber music projects, and support the young musicians "development and improvement" projects. It has a structure to accept other new formations such as ethnic music traditions, beside western classical music.

The Ensemble was founded by Cihat Askin, and started its activities on 9 March 2007. The Ensemble has no official ties with any organisations/associaton, and gets all its support from all young and creative musicians, on volunteer and independent basis. The ensemble has public apperances every month. The first project was in honour to Faik Canselen as a living composer, who is one of the first composers of Turkish Republic. The Ensemble produced a CD called "Istanbulin" at end of last year, and had several concerts in historical locations of Istanbul. The Askin Ensemble is scheduled to give series of concerts for 2007-08 season.
